Accessibility statement
MenoBuddy is for women who are often not listened to. Being hard to use would be its own kind of not listening, so accessibility is treated as part of the product rather than a box to tick.
The standard we build to
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA — the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act in US Department of Justice guidance, by Section 508, and by the European Accessibility Act.
What that means in practice
- Every page can be operated by keyboard alone, in a visible and logical order.
- Focus is always visible, and never removed — only restyled.
- Dialogs trap focus while open, close on Esc, and return focus to whatever opened them.
- Body text meets or exceeds a 4.5:1 contrast ratio; large text and interface borders meet 3:1.
- Interactive targets are at least 44×44 CSS pixels.
- Text reflows to a single column at 320px wide and survives 200% zoom without loss of content.
- Nothing conveys meaning through colour alone.
- Images and icons that carry meaning have text alternatives; purely decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
- All motion — the animated demo, the 3D flower, scroll reveals — stops when your system is set to reduce motion.
- The animated conversation demo is also available to screen readers as a plain, static transcript.
- Replies from the companion are announced to screen readers as they arrive.
- Nothing auto-plays with sound, and nothing flashes.
How we test
Every page is checked against an automated WCAG 2.1 AA rule set covering contrast ratios on all rendered text, text alternatives, accessible names, form labelling, heading structure, landmarks, duplicate IDs, ARIA references, focus order, and target sizes. Alongside that we test keyboard-only navigation, dialog focus behaviour, reflow at 320px, the WCAG text-spacing override, and reduced-motion and reduced-transparency settings.
At the last review every page returned zero automated failures. Measured contrast on the smallest text is 4.94:1 against a 4.5:1 requirement, and no content is lost or clipped at 320px or under the text-spacing override.
Known limitations
We do not yet have a formal third-party audit or a published VPAT, and automated testing cannot confirm everything — judgement calls like whether a text alternative is genuinely useful, or whether a reading order makes sense, need a person. If you hit something our testing missed, the report below is the fastest way to get it fixed.
The 3D flower on the home page is decorative and hidden from screen readers; no information is available only there.
Tell us about a barrier
If any part of MenoBuddy is difficult or impossible for you to use, please tell us — including which page, what you were trying to do, and what assistive technology or settings you use. We treat these reports as bugs, not feedback, and we will tell you what we've done about it.
Email matthew.montz@gmail.com. We aim to respond within five business days.
Alternatives
If you cannot complete something on the site — including signing up or managing your subscription — email us and we will complete it with you directly.
